How would anyone summarise this? Glory for some and pain for others? Might well be one way to put this into perspective as West Indies have crashed out but Scotland keep their hopes alive. The former champions won't feature in the 2023 World Cup. First time ever and if I haven't reiterated enough that they won't feature in a Cricket World Cup irrespective of the format. Scotland though won't be easy pushovers. They showed a glimpse of that against Sri Lanka and have fortified that claim today. Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Netherlands need to watch out! On that note, we will take a leave. See you soon. You can hops tabs and catch some intriguing action that is unfolding at Lord's.

Richie Berrington | Scotland captain: Really important win, we know the importance of every game. Playing for the World Cup is as big as it gets. The boys were outstanding, they managed to get early wickets and we kept creating chances in the middle. The bowlers were spot-on with their plans and with their execution and it was followed by Cross and McMullen with the bat. We have been very clear in our plans. The guys have been feeling physically good and confident and we got quite a few options as well and it makes the job of a captain easy. Since Brandon has come in, still very early in his career, he has had fantastic performances. He was pretty happy to keep going and certainly a very special talent. Should be another great game, all to play for still [on their clash with Zimbabwe]. They are playing very good cricket and should be a good contest against them on their homeground in Bulawayo. We had some pretty good results in the world cricket league in the last year or so. Missing two players like Kyle [Coetzer] and Callum [MacLeod] is huge but the youngsters have stepped up and having few more experienced players around helps. The support back home has been fantastic and long may it continue.

Shai Hope | West Indies captain: To be honest, it's not one thing I can put my finger on. We certainly let ourselves down in the tournament. We need to look at how we start our innings definitely. We knew it would be challenging. The toss is always crucial but we need to find a way to counter that early movement. Every single captain who wins the toss here decides to bowl first and we needed to counter that early morning moisture. It really has to do with the attitude. The fielding is an attitude according to me, catches will be dropped and misfields will happen, that's a part of the game and I feel that we did not give 100% effort every time, we did it in patches. It starts with the foundation - from back home, the preparation needs to be better. We cannot come here and expect to be an elite team without preparation. You can't expect to wake up one morning and be a great team. We need to give the West Indian fans something to cheer about. We have two more games and we need to find a way to bounce back. The talent is there, I always believe that, but we need to translate that into consistent performances. They played really well, especially their bowling. How disciplined they were, we need to learn from them. Credit to them. We have to understand each other even more and we have to go one way and that's up [on working with Daren Sammy].

Brandon McMullen | Player of the Match: I'm not too sure, I have to ask the captain about that [on whether the plan was for him to bowl 9 overs straight up top]. It was going my way, so I had to make use of it. All three of them were pretty good [on which wicket of his was better]. Just wanted to play my game, rebuild the innings and give us the best chance to win the game. He was phenomenal today, took all the pressure off me playing nice and freely [on Cross]. It was pretty good, I was chuffed about that one, part of my game to play nice and straight and glad it came off today [on the straight punch off Joseph which went for six to a rising back of a length ball]. I have no words and it's awesome to have them here [on his team-mates being present when he gets the PoTM award].

15:44 Local Time, 13:44 GMT, 19:14 IST: Breaking News: Former Champions won't feature in the main round of the World Cup this time. They have played every World Cup be it the 50 overs or the 20 overs. But they are eliminated. This would be such a bitter pill to swallow. But credit to Scotland. They have been amazing. They bowled exceedingly well. And then followed it up with a superb disciplined effort with the bat. Cross and McMullen got fifties and batted with controlled aggression. Cross stood till the end to see off the chase. So, Scotland have thrown their hats in the race to the finale of this tourney. But again try wrapping your head around this that Windies are out! Yes, they have been poor of late. But this was a shambolic display. Has to be one of their more embarrassing defeats. They seemed jaded in their efforts. But as mentioned before Scotland were in a better headspace and batted so sensibly. Stay tuned for the presentation...
