Steven Croft hit the winning runs against Somerset at Taunton in 2011 to secure their first outright County Championship title in 77 years - an unforgettable moment in Lancashire’s county history. Four years later, he went onto lead his side to their maiden T20 title in 2015 In the same season, he guided in Lancashire’s promotion back to Division One in the County Championship.


A Lancashire hero, Croft was an all-rounder in every sense of the word - a solid middle-order batsman, off-spinner/seam bowler, terrific fielder, captain and also donned the wicketkeeping gloves for half a season in 2016 in the absence of Jos Buttler and Alex Davies.


Having learnt the craft of the game in Sri Lanka, Croft became a part of Lancashire’s Academy in 2003. Two years later, he went onto make his first-class debut for Lancashire at Oxford in 2005. Blackpool-born Croft grabbed the headlines in 2006 when he secured a win in a T20 fixture against Leicestershire with a last-ball six. By 2007, he had become one of Lancashire’s most trusted players. He won the Young Player of the Year award in 2007. In the following year, he notched up his maiden FC century as he amassed 582 runs in the Championship.


Croft scored in excess off 800 in County Championship twice in his career - 2010 and 2015. His good run of form continued in the shortest format as well. In the 2015 edition of T20 Blast, Croft recorded 478 runs in 16 matches, which included five fifties. He was was appointed as Lancashire’s captain prior to the 2016 season, following the stepping down of Tom Smith,


In 2017, following a string of low scores, Croft, the captain, dropped himself from the team for a few Championship games. However, he returned to the side and capped off the season with a memorable century against Surrey at Old Trafford.
