Richa Ghosh left out, uncapped Uma Chetry gets nod for Bangladesh series

Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has been left out of the India Women squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. Ghosh has made way for uncapped Uma Chetry in both the ODI and T20I squads. Chetry had recently been picked in the India A squad for the Emerging Asia Cup tournament.

Apart from Ghosh, fast bowler Renuka Singh has also been left out with the selectors opting to pick three more uncapped players in the 18-member squads. Minnu Mani, who had recently played for Delhi Capitals in the inaugural WPL, got picked alongside Anusha Bareddy and Rashi Kanojiya.

Monica Patel, who played a couple of ODIs in 2021 against South Africa has been handed a recall and Priya Punia, whose last appearance was also in the same series, has been brought back as well. Allrounder Sneh Rana, who came in as a replacement for Pooja Vastrakar in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, has been left out of the squad for the T20I series but retains her place in the ODI setup.

Veteran pacer Shikha Pandey, who had earned a recall for the T20 World Cup in South Africa, has been left out again.

The tour kickstarts with the three-match T20I series from July 9 in Mirpur and will be followed by three ODIs at the same venue. The series concludes on July 22.
