Milestones galore for Kohli as India register biggest ever ODI win

India made light work of Sri Lanka in the dead rubber in Thiruvananthapuram winning by a mammoth 317 runs to take the series 3-0. Earlier in the day, Virat Kohli (166*) and Shubman Gill (116) powered India to 390 before Mohammed Siraj ran through the visitor's top order. Stats highlights from the third ODI:

10 - Centuries by Kohli against Sri Lanka, the most hundreds by a player against an opponent in ODIs. Kohli has also scored nine tons against the West Indies, as has Sachin Tendulkar against Australia. Kohli now has 2503 runs against Sri Lanka which is the second most by a player against them in ODIs behind Tendulkar's 3113 runs.

21 - Hundreds by Kohli in India in 101 innings, the most by a player in a country in ODI cricket. He went past 20 hundreds by Tendulkar across 160 innings in India. The most for a batter outside India is 14 each by Hashim Amla in South Africa and Ricky Ponting in Australia.

166* by Kohli is his second highest individual score in ODI, only behind 183 against Pakistan in Mirpur in 2012.

8 - Sixes by Kohli in this innings, the most by him in an ODI bettering seven he hit against Australia in Jaipur in 2013.

317 runs - The margin of victory for India, the biggest ever in ODI cricket in terms of runs. The previous highest was New Zealand's 290 run win over Ireland in Aberdeen in 2008. India's previous biggest winning margin was 257 runs against Bermuda in Port of Spain in World Cup 2007.

96 - Wins for India against Sri Lanka, the most by a team against an opposition. India went past Australia's 95 wins against New Zealand to secure the record. India's 19 wins over Sri Lanka in T20Is is also the most by a team against an opponent in the 20-over format.

26 - Bilateral rubbers played by Sri Lanka against India in India across formats, of which they have now lost 22. India remains the only country where they are yet to win a bilateral series in any format against the host nation. This was India's tenth consecutive bilateral ODI series wins against Sri Lanka.

Four wickets by Mohammed Siraj is the joint-most by an Indian bowler in the first ten overs of an ODI. Siraj joined Javagal Srinath (vs Sri Lanka, Johannesburg, 2003), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (vs Sri Lanka, Port of Spain, 2013) and Jasprit Bumrah (vs England, The Oval, 2022).
