Profile
Currently the captain of her national team, Heather Knight is a top-order batter who also bowls occasional offspin. Following the retirement of Charlotte Edwards in 2016, she was entrusted with the captaincy role and has led the side to a Cricket World Cup - 50-over - title in 2017. Knight made her debut in 2010 in an ODI and then her Test debut came a year later against Australia.

Her greatest moment individually came in 2013 at Wormsley against Australia in an Ashes Test where she made 157 batting for almost 7 hours, helping her side to draw the game thereby eventually securing the Ashes. Knight's strengths are her strong technical ability with the bat on both feet and her style has been often compared to Joe Root for their similarities at the crease.

Following the World Cup success, she was awarded an OBE in 2018. She also holds the record for being the first female player to make a fifty and take 5 wickets in an ODI match.

Her unbeaten 168 against Australia in the Ashes Test in 2022 which saw a thrilling draw was rated by many as one of her best knocks. Despite losing the Ashes in a multi-format series, Knight was named as captain for the Women's World Cup in New Zealand scheduled to start in March 2022.
