Joburg Super Kings won by 16 runs
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Donavon Ferreira

All the talk about Super Kings' win might surround around Ferreira, but Alzarri Joseph, too, deserves a huge chunk of credit for his excellent comeback with the ball in the slog overs. That's about it for tonight. We will see you tomorrow for the clash between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals. Cheers!!

Faf du Plessis: The way the boys came back was unbelievable. We were less than 30 for 4 and one of those wickets which was tough to bat against spinners. Looked like a few soft dismissals but the wicket was slightly tricky. Donavon Ferriera is an incredible talent and has wonderful future ahead of him. It's a case of trying a few options with the ball.

Donavon Ferreira | Player of the Match: Felt quite good. Just trying to focus on my game, the coaching staff picked me for a reason and I will do what I just needed to do. I like playing a positive brand of cricket, I just looked to hit straight and fortunately it came off. It's important to hold your shape while going for the big hits on this wicket. I boweld in the nets and Faf asked me to bowl. the last I bowled was I guess, 6 months ago. Lucklily it worked today.

Quinton de Kock: When Donavon came in, he counter-attacked and my wicket, those two things turned things around for us. We will take the learnings and move forward. Just pack the bags and get moving. Can't be upset about tonight and look forward to the next one.

Dev: A.Joseph was dead accurate in his last three overs..!

21:06 Local Time, 19:06 GMT, 00:36 IST: Just 48 runs off the last 6 overs. The Super Kings, on the other hand, scored 91 off their last 6. At one stage, the Super Giants looked like hunting the total with an over or two to spare given the 98-run opening stand between Mayers and de Kock. They had an excellent powerplay, then some luck with DRS and a couple of no-balls as well. Klaasen, at three had a perfect platform to explode, but unfortunately he struggled to time the ball and the promotion of Mulder didn't help matters either. Donavon Ferreira not only turned things around with the bat, but also picked up the crucial wicket of de Kock which put a dent on the chasing rhythm of the Giants. Stick around for the presentations...

Alzarri Joseph to Keemo Paul, 1 run, swings hard and gets a thick inside edge towards backward square. The Joburg Super Kings kickstart their campaign with a 16-run win.

Keemo Paul, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.5

Alzarri Joseph to Pretorius, out Lbw!! Easy call for the umpire. Yorker aimed at the base of middle and leg, Pretorius walked a long way across and played all around it. Missed it completely on the inside edge and was struck in front of middle stump. Replays reveal it would have hit the leg stump. The review was more in hope than anything. Pretorius lbw b Alzarri Joseph 14(6) [6s-2]

Alzarri Joseph to Pretorius, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!

Pretorius given out lbw. He reviews it immediately. No bat confirms the UltraEdge. Crashing into leg stump. Gone!

19.4

Alzarri Joseph to Holder, byes, 1 run, slower length delivery on the stumps, Holder looks to swat leg-side and gets beaten for lack of pace. The duo rush through for a quick single

19.3

Alzarri Joseph to Pretorius, 1 run, that could be the game for the Super Kings. It's a wobbly fullish length delivery just outside off, Pretorius looks to swing leg-side and gets a thick inside edge onto pad that rolls into the off-side

Crucial ball coming up

19.2

Alzarri Joseph to Holder, 1 run, full and in the blockhole around off, Holder squeezes it off the toe end to extra cover

19.1

Alzarri Joseph to Holder, no run, a dot ball. Alzarri Joseph bowls a slower back of a length delivery and gets it curl past leg-stump, Holder cleared his front leg and got nowhere near the delivery on the attempted heave

21 needed off 6 then! 3 sixes, 1 four? 4 fours 1 six? What's coming?

Kishor: Chennai to J'berg - spinners doing the job for Super Kings

18.6

Siboto to Pretorius, no run, no he can't. Slower full delivery flirting with the tramline outside off, Pretorius didn't pick the change of pace and missed his connection (on the slog) by a long way...

Can Pretorius get a boundary off the last ball?

18.5

Siboto to Holder, 1 run, full and wide of off, Holder goes too hard on the drive and toe-ends it to long-off

18.5

Siboto to Holder, wide, the Super Giants won't mind this. A slower full delivery fired well wide of the tramline outside off, Holder shuffles a tad and lets it pass
