England have handed all-rounder Daniella Gibson a maiden call-up to the T20I squad for the upcoming series against Australia in the Ashes. Gibson, who features for Western Storm, was part of England's travelling reserves for the T20 World Cup earlier this year and was also named in the squad for the recently-concluded Ashes Test.

England's T20I Squad: Heather Knight (captain), Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Kate Cross, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sophia Dunkley, Sophie Ecclestone, Danielle Gibson, Sarah Glenn, Amy Jones, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Issy Wong, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Danielle Wyatt

England also brought Issy Wong, after she missed the bus for the World Cup in February. Shortly after the snub for the World Cup, the fast bowler put on quite a show in the inaugural season of the Women's Premier League, picking 15 wickets for the eventual champions Mumbai Indians. Only Meg Lanning and national side teammate Nat Sciver-Brunt (16 each) picked more. Wong was also for England Women A side against Australia A in recent fixtures.

"Danielle Gibson is selected for the first time in our IT20 squad, she is in great form at regional level and has the potential to impact the game whenever she is called upon," head coach Jon Lewis said. "Issy Wong returns to the T20 squad after her success in the Women's Premier League with Mumbai Indians, it will be exciting to see how she has progressed and grown from those experiences."

The 16-member squad also had several regulars like Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Freya Davies, Charlie Dean, Sarah Glenn and Lauren Winfield-Hill who were all part of the showpiece event this year where Heather Knight's side reached the semis.

Following the Test match that finished on June 26, the women's Ashes series will next head to the shortest format with the first of the three T20Is played at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 1. The next two games will be played on July 5 and 8 at the Oval and Lord's in London. Each of these fixtures is worth two points.
