Profile
With an experience of 140-plus first-class matches, Chris Dent is a left-handed top-order batsman who has been a part of Gloucestershire for a decade. The southpaw's debut came against Northamptonshire where he was dismissed for a single in his first innings, and in the second innings he got off to a decent start, but his innings was cut short by South African spinner Nicky Boje. Wasn't a great debut for him, but he soon made amends and played a number of match-defining knocks in the matches that followed next. Owing to his solid performances he became one of the mainstays of the Gloucestershire top-order and eventually became the captain of the club in 2018.

In 2010 season, Dent scored 725 runs for Gloucestershire and was promoted to open the batting next season - when he scored his maiden first-class century against Surrey. Dent has scored 1000-plus first-class runs in two seasons and the left-hander’s highest score came against Glamorgan, as he smashed 268 in the final match of the 2015 season.

Against Derbyshire in June 2019, Dent scored 169 and as a result of his innings, Gloucestershire managed to win the match by 8 wickets. This impressive innings of his comprised of 19 boundaries and a maximum, whereas the partnership of 133 runs with opening partner Bracey, helped them chase down 263 in the fourth innings. Apart from this knock, Dent played a few other respectable knocks around the same time. Against Leicestershire, in June he scored 176 and against the same opposition, he scored 125 in July. Gloucestershire won one match and the other one ended in a draw. Against Glamorgan too he scored a century but Marnus Labuschagne's twin fifties in the match, helped them take down Gloucestershire by 4 wickets.

Chris Dent has scored three centuries in List A cricket with a highest score of 151, but it's in the longest format where he enjoys batting the most. According to his recent deal, Dent will lead Gloucestershire till the end of 2020 season, and with age by his side he can at least be a part of the club for five more years.
